The world’s most southern Chabad House is located in Bariloche, Argentina. The picturesque mountainous region is the site of some great tourism, including thousands of Israeli backpackers who come to enjoy the views and other recreational activities in the city.
Chabad’s Shliach Rabbi Boaz Klein told Chabad Info that a week before Rosh Hashana they had to vacate the old Chabad House.
“This was following a very unstable period, with electricity being cut of and a demolition order,” he said.
As a result of electricity being turned off, the Chabad House’s complete inventory of meat that was to be for Yom Tov went bad and had to be disposed of.
After the mentally straining affair the Shliach decided to write to the Rebbe through Igros Kodesh to receive his blessing. “Since then, we have found a building which meets all our requirements and which will help us develop the Chabad House physically and spiritually.”
Rabbi Klein says that with the help of nearby Shluchim Rabbi Moshe and Ester Friedman from Baja Blanca, by Rosh Hashana the doors to the new Chabad House were open, and they managed to host over 80 people at the meals.
Smiling at the site of his new Chabad House, Rabbi Klein said, “The fact that we succeeded in signing the lease on the new building in such a short time, is nothing short of a miracle!”
